Occidental, CA - Occidental Center for the Arts Gallery is proud to present “OnSite” – an exhibition of paintings by three local artists, each offering their unique perspective on West County landscapes.

“OnSite”will feature the work of Charles Beck, Dave Gordon, and Bill Taylor. Dave Gordon and Charles Beck are familiar figures in the local art community; Bill Taylor is not. At 89, his fifty years of highly crafted work have remained largely unrecognized – that is, until art patron Charlie Pendergast brought him out of the shadows. Bill is a Sonoma County native who has painted in the West County for decades – that is, when he was not contributing highly prized bird specimens to the Academy of Science in San Francisco. As Pendergast has written: “His many watercolors of the streets and buildings in Occidental…are unique and accomplished with extraordinary simplicity and elegance.” Locals will enjoy seeing scenes from Occidental’s past, as well as whimsical views of such town icons as The Union Hotel clock and its two churches.

Charles Beck, a well-known artist whose work has regularly featured Sonoma County landscapes, rarely shows in galleries. Mr Beck typically depends on Art Trails, Art at the Source and a loyal clientele to make his living. This exhibit is a chance to see Mr Beck’s work outside of his studio and get a taste of the grandeur and craft of his “response” to what he sees.

Dave Gordon will also present several works featuring local landscapes at the “OnSite” show. In addition to painting landscapes, Mr Gordon is an accomplished muralist, having painted over 60 murals across the globe including an 8,400 square foot work on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica. Mr Gordon also created the mural on the external wall of Occidental Center for the Arts, facing Graton Road and Bohemian Highway.

The exhibition runs Friday January 20,^, 2017 through Sunday March 18,^, 2017 and is open to the public between the hours of 11 AM and 4 PM each Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Gallery is also open during OCA live performance events which are listed on our website occidentalcenterforthearts.org. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21^st from 4:00 to 7:00. Occidental Center for the Arts is located at Graton Road and Bohemian Highway, 3850 Doris Murphy Court, Occidental, CA.
