Lend-A-Hand Day 2018

Hosted by Cittaslow Sebastopol and City of Sebastopol, California:

Show our local non-profits some love.  Donate your elbow grease. 

This community-wide day of service provides the opportunity for everyone in Sebastopol to pitch in and help 11 local non-profits with much needed projects:
- Building
- Painting
- Gardening
- Clean Up. 

There's something for everyone and your efforts will support organizations that do things like:
- Help the homeless
- Promote bicycle riding
- Improve the West County Trail
- Cultivate butterfly habitat
- Support literacy.

Lend-A-Hand Day Sebastopol is sponsored by the City of Sebastopol, and Cittaslow Sebastopol, the City’s non-profit community development partner. The idea first came up in November of 2016 when Mayor Sarah Gurney, together with Cittaslow Sebastopol, put on a breakfast for the local non-profits. Our local charitable organizations contribute greatly to the community spirit in Sebastopol. The Mayor wanted to find out what they needed by way of support.

Mike Mortensson of the Gravenstein Lions Club suggested a day of service as a way to get projects done and to increase visibility in the community. He called it "Lend-A-Hand Day Sebastopol". The idea was very popular with the non-profits, so the City decided to sponsor this event.

The Planning Team for Lend-A-Hand Day Sebastopol included representation from a wide range of organizations:

• Mathew Rose of the Sebastopol Regional Library
• Ellen Harrington of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol
• Portia Sinnott of Lite Initiatives
• Tasha Beauchamp of Cittaslow Sebastopol
